Note to Self

Remind me to not register any future songs with any PRO (BMI, ASCAP, etc.).

I'm not part of an industry. Not recording and sharing and music for anything but the enjoyment of it. Several dozens to a few thousand people hear these songs, so my mission is accomplished: make the songs exist outside my head, let them be heard by other ears as confirmation they exist -- as confirmation that I exist.

I'm a middle age guy in the deep southern state of Louisiana with a full time job/career. Making music is what keeps me sane and grounded. No record labels are going to call. No festivals are going to put me on the bill. Hell, no fellow local musicians are hitting me up to jam.

All of that is FINE.

I don't need a label for what I do. Hence, the very generic label name "True Red Music". I just don't need to pretend that it is anything more than what it is or will ever be.

There is no need to convolute what should be an entirely pure pursuit/passion. The whole True Red website is hosted on Blogger, for crying out loud! I've made it as "ground floor" as possible for a reason.

The music gets made, goes on streaming services, and is made available for free downloads here on this website with the option to donate/pay/support. It really doesn't get more bare bones than that. It was never going to be a career for most of us. We are not what the masses are looking for. We are what the few are looking for.

And we do it for them.
